Physicians

 

J. Mark Blue, M.D.

Specializing in general orthopaedics and sports medicine Dr. Blue earned his medical degree from East Carolina University School of Medicine in Greenville, North Carolina. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia, Missouri, and his fellowship training in orthopaedic sports medicine at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and of the Arthroscopy Association of North America.

Dr. Blue has many years of experience in the field of orthopaedic medicine. He has previously served as the president of Carroll Hospital's medical staff. Dr. Blue was named Carroll Hospital's 2010 Physician of the Year.

Myles D. Brager, M.D.

Specializing in spinal surgery Dr. Brager earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore. He completed his orthopaedic residency and an internship in general surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Dr. Brager is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and specializes in spinal surgery.

Samuel O. Matz, M.D.

Specializing in knee and shoulder surgery and sports medicine

Dr. Matz earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore. He completed an internship in general surgery at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore.

Dr. Matz is board certified in orthopaedic surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He has also been named one of Baltimore Magazine's Top Doctors in 1996, 2011 and 2012 and has been published in numerous medical journals.

Dr. Matz has been named team physician and head orthopaedic surgeon for McDaniel College and Mount Saint Mary's University for the past 25 years. He has also served as an orthopaedic consultant for Carroll County Public Schools and worked as an orthopaedic team physician for several Carroll County high schools.

Yatin Patel, M.D.

Specializing in general orthopaedics and sports medicine

Dr. Patel earned his medical degree from the University at Buffalo School of Medicine in Buffalo, New York. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Caritas Medical Centers of Brooklyn & Queens in New York City. He then went on to complete a fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine at the renowned American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama.

Dr. Patel is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and has a subspecialty certification in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine.

Dr. Patel has trained in and performs the latest arthroscopic techniques and procedures of the knee, shoulder, elbow, ankle and the hip. He has a special interest in hip preservation surgery and specializes in the field of hip arthroscopy. He has been an Associate Instructor at AANA's Masters Hip Arthroscopy Course. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy.

Dr. Patel has conducted research and authored numerous publications in the field of minimally invasive surgery throughout his career.

He is fluent in Gujarati, Hindi and Spanish.

Vincent Rollo, M.D.

Specializing in general orthopaedics and sports medicine

Dr. Rollo earned his medical degree with honors from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He completed a general surgery internship at the Medical Center of Delaware and an orthopaedic surgery residency at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He specializes in general orthopaedics and sports medicine.

Before moving to Maryland, Dr. Rollo was an orthopaedic surgeon at Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and was chief of surgery for the 23rd Medical Group at Pope Air Force Base in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and has a subspecialty certification in sports medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Maryland Orthopaedic Assocation and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.

Dr. Rollo’s interest in sports medicine stems from his love of participating in and coaching sports, and he enjoys taking care of athletes of all ages. While he is interested in all athletic injuries, he has a special interest in knee, shoulder and running injuries.

David Silber, M.D.

Specializing in joint replacement and adult reconstructive surgery

Dr. Silber is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement surgery. He founded the Joint Replacement program at Carroll Hospital and has been the director since its inception. Prior to joining Carroll Health Group Orthopaedics, he was the joint replacement specialist for ACOSSM in Baltimore and Carroll counties.

A Baltimore native, Dr. Silber received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and completed his medical degree at the University of Maryland. Following his orthopaedic surgery residency at University of Maryland hospitals and the shock trauma unit, he completed a joint replacement fellowship at the Anderson Clinic Orthopaedic Institute in Northern Virginia.

Dr. Silber's subspecialty interests include minimally invasive partial knee replacement and less invasive approaches to total hip replacement. He promotes rapid rehabilitation protocols for his joint replacement patients to facilitate a shorter hospital stay and a faster postoperative recovery.  He serves as a national faculty instructor for the Oxford mobile-bearing partial knee replacement surgical procedure.

Dr. Silber was named a "Top Doctor" in Orthopaedic Surgery/Joint Replacement by Baltimore magazine in 2009 and 2011. He is proud to be a volunteer surgeon for the Operation Walk organization and was a member of their charity medical mission trip to Nicaragua in 2011, performing hip and knee replacement procedures. While Dr. Silber emphasizes a conservative approach to managing his patients with arthritis, he feels fortunate to derive a deep sense of satisfaction from the often life-changing joint replacement procedures he performs for those patients who require surgery.

A certified physician assistant for more than 25 years, Banham earned her Physician Assistant degree from the BCCC/Towson University program and completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication and Public Relations at Towson University in Towson, Maryland.

Anela Collazo, P.A.-C.

Certified Physician Assistant

A certified physician assistant for more than five years, Collazo earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at St. Mary's College of Maryland in St. Mary's City, Maryland. She also earned a master's degree in physician assistant studies from Drexel University in Philadelphia.

Tricia Duke, C.R.N.P.

Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner

A nurse practitioner with more than 15 years of orthopaedics experience, Duke obtained her Master of Science degree in nursing and her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Maryland in Baltimore.

Ms. Duke sees patients in Westminster and Eldersburg.


Bridget Haslam, P.A.-C.

Certified Physician Assistant

A physician assistant with close to 10 years of experience, Haslam received her Master of Medical Science degree from Saint Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania through a collaborative Physician Assistant certificate program at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, Maryland. She also earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland.

At Carroll Health Group Orthopaedics, Haslam will be seeing patients with spinal surgeon Myles Brager, M.D., in Westminster.

Jill O'Malley, P.A.-C.

Certified Physician Assistant

Jill O'Malley, P.A.-C., earned her Master of Science degree in physician assistant studies as well as her Bachelor of Science degree in medical studies from King's College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

In addition, she earned her Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Orthopaedic Surgery from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

Rebecca Pollino, P.A.-C.

Certified Physician Assistant

Rebecca Pollino, P.A.-C., received her Bachelor of Science degree at Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pennsylvania., and her Master of Health Science degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia.

Ms. Pollino has participated Operation Walk, Maryland, a volunteer medical service organization that provides free surgical treatment for patients in developing countries and in the United States. They treat those suffering from disabling arthritis and other debilitating bone and joint conditions. She went on her first mission trip to India in January 2014 and has been very involved in their fundraisers since 2013.

Ms. Pollino has worked with the physicians at Carroll Health Group Orthopaedics since 2010 and assists patients during their stay at Carroll Hospital. She also sees patients in Westminster.
