The LifeBridge Health Sports Medicine Institute
The LifeBridge Health Sports Medicine Institute is a
game-changer for athletes both on and off the field. Led by co-founder Craig Bennett, M.D., a
board-certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in sports medicine, the institute takes a team
approach, working with specialists across the continuum of care.
Dr. Bennett provides orthopedic sports medicine care in Owings Mills. Dr. Anthony Velott, Dr.
Samuel Matz, and Dr. Yatin Patel provide orthopedic sports medicine care
in Carroll County. Dr. Erica Gaertner, a board-certified internal medicine doctor with fellowship training in
pediatric and adult sports medicine, serves as a primary sports medicine physician for both regions. Our unique
program combines the best orthopedic care for athletes at all levels of their sport.
Another asset to the Sports Medicine Institute is the team at the LifeBridge Sports Cardiology Center. The team
at the
LifeBridge Sports Cardiology Center—led by Sunal S. Makadia,
M.D., FACC, a board-certified, noninvasive cardiologist—treats athletes of all abilities (ages
17 and older) and people in highly active occupations for known or previously undiagnosed cardiovascular
conditions.
We believe that caring for athletes starts before their injury, and continues on well after. Our
multidisciplinary
team of providers help athletes avoid injuries, such as ACL tears, with proper technique,
sport-specific strength analyses, and speed and strength training assistance as needed. If injuries occur, we
work
with your team’s athletic trainers and coaches to provide a personalized plan of care from diagnosis to return
to
play and beyond.
The Sports Medicine Institute will take care of YOU by offering expert
orthopedics, primary care, physical therapy, sport-specific athletic training and much more.
Our Mission
The LifeBridge Health Sports Medicine Institute strives to be
