When your child is sick, a nurse or physician is available 24 hours a day to provide care and instructions. We will help determine if an urgent need can be safely treated in our clinic rather than the emergency room.
Supporting Children and Families From Diagnosis Through Survivorship
At LifeBridge Health, we care for children with cancer and blood disorders in close partnership with their families. Each care plan is tailored to provide effective treatment while also supporting comfort, growth and daily life.
Your child is cared for by a team of pediatric specialists, with access to advanced testing, leading treatments and expertise from across the country. As a member of the Children’s Oncology Group, we offer therapies and clinical trials designed specifically for children and teens. We also work with national blood disorder networks to provide expert care for conditions like sickle cell disease.

Urgent Care Needs
Child-Friendly Diagnostics
We take extra care to make testing and procedures as comfortable as possible, using age-appropriate techniques and spaces designed for children.
Infusion Therapy
We provide IV treatments for cancer (chemotherapy), anemia, problems with the immune system, bleeding disorders, endocrine disorders and gastrointestinal disorders.
On-site Lab Services
Bloodwork and other testing are done on-site, allowing for fast results and timely care decisions.
Blood Transfusions
Blood and platelet transfusions can be given on the same day in our clinic for children with anemia or low blood counts from chemotherapy.
Radiation Therapy
When appropriate, radiation is carefully coordinated with the full care team. Treatment is tailored to each child’s diagnosis, age, growth and long-term health needs.
Specialized Services for Patients with Sickle Cell Disease
Exchange Transfusion Program
During this treatment, the patient’s blood is removed and replaced to improve blood flow to important parts of the body, like the brain.
Transcranial Doppler Screening
A painless test used to identify kids with sickle cell disease who are at risk for a stroke.
Sickle Cell Transition Program
For teens and young adults with sickle cell disease, this program supports the transition from pediatric to adult care. It helps patients build the skills and confidence needed to manage their health over time.
Support and Survivorship
When a child is diagnosed with cancer or a blood disorder, the whole family faces new challenges—many of which go beyond medical care.
At LifeBridge Health, our pediatric hematology and oncology team supports comfort, development and day-to-day well-being throughout treatment.
When treatment ends, that care continues through our Kara Amey Cancer Survivorship Program, which provides long-term follow-up and connection.
Core Support Services
Social Work and Care Management
Social workers help with emotional and financial challenges. Care managers help with scheduling tests, obtaining medications and providing information.
Child Life
Certified Child Life Specialists focus on your child’s experience of care. They help young patients feel comfortable in the hospital setting, prepare for procedures, and cope with stress through play, education, and emotional support. Their work supports healthy development and daily routines during treatment.
Therapeutic Programs
Our skilled therapists offer meaningful ways for children to find comfort and express themselves during treatment.
- Art therapy can help patients process emotions, release stress and communicate experiences that may be hard to put into words.
- Music therapy promotes relaxation, expression and comfort.
- Pet therapy and friendly interactions with trained therapy animals can ease anxiety and create a sense of normalcy.
Financial Coordination
Financial coordinators help parents and caregivers understand treatment costs, insurance coverage and billing concerns. They can also connect families with financial aid and supportive resources.
Support for the Whole Family
Serious illness can affect routines and relationships for patients, parents and siblings. These services help to ease stress experienced by the whole family.
Transportation Assistance
Help may be available for families who need support getting to appointments.
Teen Outings
Group activities give teens time away from treatment to connect with peers and enjoy age-appropriate experiences.
Family Support Groups
Support groups provide space to share experiences, learn from others and connect with families facing similar challenges. We offer childhood cancer support groups and support for parents of children with cancer.
Complementary Programs
Partner organizations work with our team to offer added comfort and support throughout treatment.

Where Your Child Receives Care
Outpatient Care
The Alfred I. Coplan Pediatric Hematology Oncology Outpatient Center
Most care takes place in our outpatient clinic, where children come for visits, testing, and treatment and return home the same day. Located on a dedicated pediatric floor of the new Mandy & Dennis Weinman Cancer Building, the space includes private exam rooms, family-friendly infusion bays, and spaces for art therapy and psychosocial support.
Inpatient Care
The Shirley Howard Pediatric Oncology Inpatient Unit
If a hospital stay is needed, our inpatient unit at The Herman & Walter Samuelson Children’s Hospital provides specialized, family-centered care.
