Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program

Outpatient Pulmonary Rehabilitation

For people with chronic lung disease, even the simplest day-to-day activities can be a challenge. LifeBridge Health’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program helps you overcome these hurdles by providing a supportive place to understand your diagnosis, learn techniques for easier breathing and build the confidence to live more independently.

You may benefit from pulmonary rehabilitation if you have:

  • Asbestosis
  • Asthma
  • Bronchiectasis
  • Chronic bronchitis
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Emphysema
  • Interstitial lung disease
  • Lung transplant-related issues

Our program is guided by a range of specialists. Together, they lead weekly education and exercise sessions, along with nutrition and emotional support, to help you improve your quality of life.

Education

Learning about your condition gives you the tools you need to manage it. We cover:

  • Symptom assessment
  • Medications and nutrition management
  • Exercise and safe activity
  • Stress relief

These topics help you understand what affects your breathing and how to best care for your lungs.

Exercise

Many people with chronic lung disease avoid activity because they fear shortness of breath. But regular, gentle exercise can help you control your breathing and support both heart and lung function.

In our program, you take part in weekly exercise routines tailored to your needs. Activities may include:

  • Walking
  • Stationary bicycling
  • Low-impact aerobics

These movements support strength, endurance and comfort.

Nutrition Management

Chronic breathing problems and restrictive lung disease can make eating well difficult. Our dietitians work with you to build healthy eating habits that support energy, breathing and overall wellness.

You also learn practical tips for food selection and preparation.

Emotional Support

It is common to experience stress, anxiety or depression when living with a chronic respiratory condition. We provide emotional support, education and stress-management techniques to help you cope throughout recovery.
