Santa Trades Sleigh for Helicopter in Special Visit to Children’s Hospital—Just Days Before Christmas

News

WHAT: Santa Claus is making a high-flying entrance to the Herman & Walter Samuelson Children’s Hospital at Sinai—just three days before Christmas! With his reindeer busy with final preparations for the big night, Santa is taking the fastest route to spread holiday cheer: a helicopter ride courtesy of STAT MedEvac.

Before landing on the hospital’s helipad, Santa will circle the rooftop and fly past the windows so children, families and staff can wave to the big man in red. After touchdown, Santa will visit kids receiving care and deliver gifts, bringing joy and excitement to the hospital halls.

WHY IT MATTERS: This festive tradition is now in its third year at Sinai and is one of many activities coordinated by the Child Life team to make the holidays bright for children and families. Santa’s visit is a reminder that the magic of the season can reach everywhere—even a hospital.

MEDIA ADVANTAGE: Unlike other area events, media will have rooftop access for photos and video of Santa’s helicopter landing. Hospital staff will meet Santa on the roof before he begins his rounds visiting kids. Child Life team will be looking to identify children/families who are willing to photographed and/or interviewed.
