Jonathan Thierman

LifeBridge Health has named Jonathan Thierman, M.D., Ph.D., as president of LifeBridge Health Partners, a division of the health system that brings together partners whose services fill out and complement the care provided across the LifeBridge Health system. Board-certified in emergency medicine, Dr. Thierman currently serves as president and chief executive of ExpressCare Urgent Care Centers and Children’s Urgent Care Centers, which is part of LifeBridge Health Partners.

Dr. Thierman will work to strengthen and advance the organization’s diverse and growing portfolio of partner services, ranging from medical transportation and home health care to rehabilitation and senior living.

“As a health system, LifeBridge Health aims to offer a full continuum of care to our patients and our communities, providing both convenience and continuity of care. Whatever your healthcare need, there will be a LifeBridge Health service or partner to meet it,” says Jennifer Nickoles, LifeBridge Health president and CEO.

She adds, “LifeBridge Health Partners is key to the continuum of care strategy, and Dr. Thierman brings a rare combination of clinical expertise, operational leadership and entrepreneurial vision. He understands our organization, our partners and the opportunities ahead. Throughout his career at LifeBridge Health, he has demonstrated an ability to bring people together, develop innovative solutions and translate strategy into results. He is exceptionally well positioned to lead LifeBridge Health Partners into its next phase of growth.”

Since becoming president of ExpressCare Urgent Care Centers and Children's Urgent Care Centers in 2024, Dr. Thierman has led one of the region's largest urgent care networks, overseeing more than 30 locations, 500,000 annual patient visits and strategic initiatives that strengthened integration across the LifeBridge Health system. Prior to that role, he was chief medical officer of LifeBridge Health Partners, where he helped guide clinical strategy and business development across a diverse portfolio of healthcare organizations. He joined LifeBridge Health in 2017 as chief medical information officer and later served as medical director of the Virtual Hospital, helping expand telemedicine and digital health capabilities across the system, including during the COVID-19 pandemic, when he helped lead LifeBridge Health's telemedicine hotline and testing and vaccination programs.

"Healthcare is increasingly delivered across a broad continuum of services, and LifeBridge Health Partners plays a vital role in connecting patients and families with the right care at the right time. I am honored to take on this role and look forward to working with our partner organizations to strengthen integration, expand access and create new opportunities to improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve,” says Dr. Thierman.

Dr. Thierman will help to position LifeBridge Health Partners for continued growth while strengthening connections among the services patients and communities rely on throughout their healthcare journeys.

LifeBridge Health Partners includes nearly two dozen organizations providing services ranging from outpatient imaging and urgent care to skilled nursing, rehabilitation, senior living, fitness and other specialized services. Together, these organizations connect patients and families with care and services at different stages of their healthcare journeys.

LifeBridge Health Partners organizations include Advanced Radiology, which provides comprehensive outpatient imaging services; Atlee Hill Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, which provides short- and long-term rehabilitation, skilled nursing and long-term care; DaVita Kidney Care, which provides outpatient and at-home dialysis services with personalized treatment options; and ExpressCare Urgent Care Centers, ExpressCare Wellness Centers and Children’s Urgent Care, with nearly three dozen locations providing treatment for minor illnesses and injuries.

Other LifeBridge Health Partners organizations include LifeBridge Health & Fitness, a fitness center offering personal training, group exercise classes and state-of-the-art amenities; Springwell Senior Living, which offers independent living, assisted living and memory care; and VSP, which provides vocational rehabilitation, workforce development, printing and document management services.

Dr. Thierman’s appointment allows LifeBridge Health Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President David Krajewski, who founded LifeBridge Health Partners and has guided its growth for the past 13 years, to focus his full attention on the organization’s long-term financial sustainability and broader financial strategy.

“We are so grateful to Dave for his vision and leadership in creating and growing LifeBridge Health Partners. The healthcare industry in Maryland is now facing fundamental changes, and Dave’s leadership has positioned us for the future. By focusing on our enterprise growth strategy and the evolving reimbursement landscape, Dave will ensure we have the financial strength to continue investing in our mission, people and communities for years to come,” says Nickoles.

Dr. Thierman will take over as president of LifeBridge Health Partners on August 31.

Dr. Thierman completed his emergency medicine residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital and holds degrees from Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he earned a Ph.D. in mechanical and biomedical engineering.

Dr. Thierman's leadership and innovation have earned regional recognition, including the Maryland Daily Record's Healthcare Heroes Award for Advancements & Innovation in Health Care and the Baltimore Business Journal's Leaders in Health Care Award for Health Care Innovation.
