LifeBridge Health Becomes Part Owner In Johns Hopkins Medicare Insurance Plans
Baltimore - December 8, 2016. LifeBridge Health, along with five other of the region's most notable health systems, recently became an equity partner in Johns Hopkins Medicare Advantage health plans, making LifeBridge Health a part owner of the Hopkins Medicare managed insurance plans Advantage MD and Advantage MD Plus. These plans provide coverage to patients in 11 Maryland counties and nearly 400,000 Medicare-eligible individuals in the mid-Atlantic region.

These insurance plans are designed to cover the expenses that traditional Medicare does not, such as prescription drug, vision, hearing and dental coverage.
While LifeBridge Health was already a participant in the provider network for the Hopkins Advantage plans, the investment means LifeBridge Health now also has a direct stake in their financial success.
The other health systems investing the Johns Hopkins Medicare Advantage health plans include Anne Arundel Medical Center and Mercy Medical. The three other systems (Adventist Healthcare, Frederick Regional Health System and Peninsula Health System) are already partners with LifeBridge Health in the Advanced Health Collaborative, an alliance formed two years ago to share ideas and innovative approaches to the rapidly changing world of health care.
The investment in the Hopkins plans will not affect the individual ownership of the minority partner organizations, which will remain independent of Johns Hopkins Medicine.
