Baltimore – The Daily Record has named Jordan Wickstrom, Ph.D., of LifeBridge Health, as one of its 2025 Leading Women Under 40, honoring her trailblazing contributions to pediatric motor development, interdisciplinary rehabilitation science and health equity research.

Wickstrom serves as director of clinical research for the ABBEL Research Division, housed within the Rehabilitation Institute at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. A leading scholar in pediatric biomechanics, she is the principal investigator of ABBEL’s Pediatric Motor Development Lab, employing advanced technologies—including force plates, pressure mats, wearable sensors, motion capture and video coding—to study and improve movement outcomes. Her research has generated more than 20 peer-reviewed publications, secured six research grants and informed care strategies for patients worldwide.

Beyond pediatrics, Wickstrom oversees more than two dozen rehabilitation research initiatives addressing gait biomechanics and prosthetics, imaging and sensor-based diagnostics, large-scale evidence synthesis and clinical guideline development, and the influence of social determinants on rehabilitation outcomes. Her work bridges clinical innovation and population health, advancing practices that improve function and equity across patient populations at Sinai, where she also mentors more than 40 residents and clinicians.

Under her leadership, ABBEL has become a hub for rehabilitation innovation, providing inclusive, evidence-based care for patients across the lifespan—from infants at risk for autism to adults living with rare progressive neuromuscular diseases. Wickstrom’s work is fueled by a commitment to bridging science with compassionate care, ensuring research translates into tangible improvements in patients’ lives.

Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, managing director of BridgeTower Media/The Daily Record, describes the recipients accordingly, “The 2025 Leading Women are clearly accomplished up-and-coming leaders who juggle demanding careers, community service, education, mentoring and many other priorities. They work hard and are committed to making a difference and inspiring change in the community. These women are making a remarkable impact at a young age, and we at The Daily Record are pleased to celebrate their accomplishments and look forward to their future achievements.”

The Leading Women Under 40 awards recognize women younger than 40 for the achievements they have already made in their careers. Honorees are selected for their professional experience, community involvement and dedication to inspiring change, with winners chosen by past recipients and a representative of The Daily Record.

This year’s honorees will be celebrated at a reception and awards ceremony on August 20 and will be profiled in The Daily Record and online at TheDailyRecord.com.
