Grace Medical Center’s Annual “Community Day” Brings Together West Baltimore Neighbors for Family Fun, Music and Health Services
Free community event features backpack and book giveaways, haircuts,
petting zoo, “Art with a Heart” project, health screenings and more!
What: Get ready for a day of fun and health on September 13 as Grace Medical Center opens its doors, turns up the music and fires up the grill to welcome community members for its annual “Community Day” celebration.
For 12 years, the medical facility has offered food, fun, health screenings and more to the West Baltimore community as part of this annual celebration. The event will also feature a petting zoo, Zumba lessons, a marching band, face painting, a deejay, free haircuts, grocery giveaways and most importantly, a wealth of health screenings such as blood pressure, BMI (body mass index), HIV, vascular testing and more. It is all part of the commitment of Grace team members in helping to improve the health and happiness of people in their community.
Some new community groups are joining the fun this year. “Art with a Heart” is an organization that will be on site inviting the community to collaborate in the creation of a work of art that will be installed outside Grace Medical Center. In addition to a local petting zoo, the Maryland Zoo will bring animals for children to meet. Backpacks for school age children will be available while supplies last.
This year, team members from LifeBridge Health, Grace’s parent company, purchased more than 200 new books to be given out to neighborhood children as part of the second annual LifeBridge Health bookmobile. The Enoch Pratt Free Library will also be on hand to get folks signed up for library cards.
Grace Medical Center hosts Community Day in partnership with other local nonprofits and area churches. Grace Medical Center recently celebrated the completion of the facility’s $61.6 million transformation, marking a major milestone in the five-year modernization of the former Bon Secours Hospital (acquired by LifeBridge Health in 2019). The final phase of that project featured the opening of state-of-the-art adult and pediatric behavioral health clinics and a new facility entrance with expanded parking and green space.
