“Code Save” Event: Northwest Hospital and Baltimore County Fire Department Honor Life-Saving Teamwork in Remarkable Rescue of 20-Month-Old Girl
Northwest Hospital hosted a special “Code Save” recognition event celebrating the extraordinary collaboration between Baltimore County Fire Department and hospital emergency team members who helped save the life of a 20-month-old girl who was not breathing following a car crash on the way to daycare earlier in the year.
The powerful story of life-saving care underscores the strength of the partnership between emergency medical services and hospital staff—and the importance of seamless coordination in critical moments.
During the event, Baltimore County Fire Chief Joseph Dixon walked through the details of the case. Code Save pins were presented to the Baltimore County first responders, and hospital team members were recognized for their roles in the remarkable case.
Seven Baltimore County first responders and more than a dozen Northwest Hospital team members were honored, showcasing the number of individuals involved in saving a life.
Today, 23-month-old Worship Shey is doing well. She and her family attended the Code Save event, where they got to meet their rescuers.
The term Code Save refers to a situation where emergency responders and healthcare providers successfully resuscitate a patient in cardiac arrest or another critical condition.
Baltimore County Executive Kathy Klausmeier was also in attendance at the event, along with Baltimore County Councilman Julian Jones. The event was held at the Northwest Hospital Education Center on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
