Brandon Killough Named Chief Nursing Officer at Northwest Hospital
Veteran nurse leader to guide hospital’s nursing team and advance patient care
RANDALLSTOWN, MD — Northwest Hospital has appointed Brandon Killough, DNP, RN, CENP, CCRN, as its next chief nursing officer (CNO), effective Nov. 2. With more than 16 years of experience in nursing and progressive leadership roles, Killough brings a wealth of knowledge, vision and dedication to patient-centered care.
Killough has been part of Northwest Hospital’s leadership team for more than two years, most recently serving as executive director of patient care services. In that role, he led initiatives to improve patient safety, efficiency and the overall patient experience. His accomplishments include launching the Hospital Operations Coordinator Command Center, reducing patient length of stay in behavioral health and redesigning the daily hospital operations huddle — efforts that have already made a measurable impact on patient care and hospital operations.
“Brandon is a visible and results-driven leader who embodies the values of Northwest Hospital,” says Craig Carmichael, president and chief operating officer of Northwest Hospital and senior vice president of LifeBridge Health. “His extensive background, dedication and focus on patient-centered care make him the ideal person to lead our nursing team into the future.”
Killough becomes CNO during a time of innovation and growth for the hospital, which recently celebrated the completion of a 15-month, $6 million modernization of its emergency department. Additionally, Northwest is leading LifeBridge Health’s efforts around “smart hospital” technology. All rooms at Northwest are equipped to support virtual nursing, and teams at Northwest are also using telemedicine to connect social workers and case managers with patients and families to coordinate the next steps in their care.
Killough holds a doctorate in nursing practice degree in executive leadership from the University of New Hampshire, a master’s of science in nursing leadership and management from Stevenson University and a bachelor’s of science in nursing from the University of Maryland.
Killough succeeds Ann Marie Madden, RN, Ph.D., who recently retired.
