Mammothon - No More Excuses

It’s time to put you at the top of your to-do list.

This season is the perfect time to prioritize your breast health. LifeBridge Health offers quick, convenient mammograms designed to make early detection easy, comfortable and stress-free. Taking a few minutes for your screening can give you the peace of mind you deserve.  If you’ve already had your annual screening, you can share that with us, too.

Why screenings matter

1 in 8 women will face breast cancer, but together we can fight for all 8.

Early detection is powerful. Regular mammograms save lives, helping women:

  • Detect breast cancer early when treatment is most effective.
  • Avoid more aggressive treatments and experience better outcomes.

The American Society of Breast Surgeons recommends:

  • Women over 25: Get a formal breast cancer risk assessment.
  • Women at average risk: Begin yearly mammograms at age 40.
  • Women at higher risk: Start screenings earlier, with supplemental imaging.

FAQs

    Who should get a mammogram?

Women should begin getting an annual mammogram at the age of 40. Those at higher risk may need to begin earlier.

Do I need an order or referral from my physician to get a mammogram?

No, a referral or physician’s order is not required for a screening mammogram at any LifeBridge Health location.

Does it matter if this is not my usual screening location?

No. Choose the LifeBridge Health location that is most convenient for you. We’re happy to have you!

    Will my insurance be accepted?

LifeBridge Health accepts most major insurances. When scheduling, our representatives will confirm if your plan is accepted. If you do not have health insurance, please visit https://www.freemammograms.org/ for more information.

    Did You Know?
Most insurances cover annual exams starting at age 40. By taking advantage of this earlier start to annual exams, you give yourself the best possible chance of prevention and early detection.

How do I prepare for a mammogram?

Avoid using deodorants, lotions or powders under your arms or on your breasts on the day of your screening, as these may interfere with imaging.

What if I have received a diagnosis and want a second opinion?

The Herman & Walter Samuelson Breast Care Center at Northwest Hospital and the Center for Breast Health at Carroll Hospital have radiologists who specialize in breast imaging for more accurate reading as well as the most advanced technologies in the Baltimore area for the evaluation of breast disease.

If you have already been diagnosed with breast cancer, we have a team of breast cancer oncologists at the Alvin and Lois Lapidus Cancer Center (Sinai Hospital) and the William E. Kalhert Regional Cancer Center (Carroll Hospital) and breast surgeons at Northwest Hospital, Pomona Square and Carroll Hospital, who can evaluate you for treatment recommendations.
