Our dedicated volunteers at Sinai Hospital are valued contributors in our mission to provide patients with the compassionate, high-quality care they need and deserve. They spend their time welcoming and assisting patients and visitors and doing other meaningful tasks across many key departments.

Sinai Hospital has many opportunities to get involved. Whether you want to work behind the scenes or interact with patients, there's a job that fits you and your schedule.

Adult Volunteer Program

If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering at Sinai Hospital, you can easily apply online. Please note that all volunteers must be vaccinated for COVID 19, and the seasonal flu. They must also undergo tuberculosis (TB) testing and a drug screen. (Medical requirements are subject to change at any time.) A background check and orientation are also part of our onboarding process.

    Please note:

  • Adult volunteers are expected to come in for 4 hour shifts on agreed upon day and time each week.

  • Sinai Hospital asks for a 1 year commitment from our adult volunteers.

  • This program runs year-round, so the application process is rolling throughout the year.

Student Volunteer Programs

Through Sinai Hospital’s Student Volunteer Summer or Fall Programs, you can earn service hours that can be applied toward the total number of community service hours required by your school system.

High School - Summer Volunteer Program

      Who is eligible to apply?


    • High School Students are 15 by July 1st and have completed the 10th grade


    • Program Requirements


    • High School student volunteers are expected to volunteer for a total of 80 hours for the summer.


    • Students participating in this program are expected to volunteer for 8 weeks over the 10 weeks that the program is running.


    • Hospital volunteering follows strict guidelines, and there are several steps to the volunteer application and onboarding process. An application, two interviews, health screen forms and online orientation must be completed in order to volunteer at Sinai Hospital. Please note that all volunteers must be vaccinated for COVID 19, and the seasonal flu. They must also undergo tuberculosis (TB) testing and a drug screen. (Medical requirements are subject to change at any time.)


    • Students are expected adhere to the dress code. We recommend a polo shirt, khakis, and comfortable shoes. Clothing with logos, open toed shoes, and denim are not allowed. Your school uniform is also acceptable. Students are required to sign in and out for each of their volunteer shifts.

High School - Internship Program.

College Volunteer Opportunities

      Sinai Hospital’s College Student Program is designed for students who are interested in pursuing careers in healthcare and who are looking for volunteer hours for experience/exposure in a hospital setting.


      Who is eligible to apply?


    • Undergraduates


    • College graduates (gap year students)

    • Expectations


    • College volunteers are expected to come in to the hospital for a minimum of a 4 hour shift each week.


    • College volunteers commit to serve a minimum of 40 hours per semester, for one year.


    • Hospital volunteering follows strict guidelines, and there are several steps to the volunteer application and onboarding process. An application, two interviews, background check, health screen forms and online orientation must be completed in order to volunteer at Sinai Hospital. Please note that all volunteers must be vaccinated for COVID 19, and the seasonal flu. They must also undergo tuberculosis (TB) testing and a drug screen. (Medical requirements are subject to change at any time.)

Shadowing through the Volunteer Services Office

      Sinai Hospital is able to provide shadowing opportunities for students seeking an introduction to the clinical environment or to gain experience.


      Who qualifies for the Shadow Program?


    • This opportunity is offered to those students who are looking for shadowing positions that are not offered through our Medical Education Office (contracted through students school).


    • Students who are pursuing education at the undergraduate level or higher.

    • Expectations


    • Students are expected to make contact with hospital staff in order to identify a clinician who will agree to have the student shadow them (Physician, Physician Assistant, Nurse, etc.).


    • Shadowing follows strict guidelines, and there are several steps to the application and onboarding process. An application, health screen forms and online orientation must be completed in order to shadow at Sinai Hospital. Health requirements may include vaccination for COVID 19, seasonal flu, tuberculosis (TB) testing and a drug screen. (Medical requirements are subject to change at any time.)


    • Students must complete a Shadow Student application. (Graduate and College students must also supply a recent background check).
