Northwest Hospice Care

Hospice Care Unit

Northwest Hospital offers hospice care with a comprehensive program for patients and families facing a terminal illness.

Hospice emphasizes palliative care. A specialized team of health care providers comforts those who are at the end of life. Both the patient and family members are included in the care plan and, as needed and desired, emotional, spiritual and practical support are given.

The hospice staff provides a caring environment where patients can go to receive help with their symptoms. It is a place where loved ones may spend hours or days in the patient’s room, providing the warmth and comfort that family and friends can offer. They are welcome to share the room 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Hospice care at Northwest Hospital is provided in private rooms, with the ability to accommodate family members or close friends overnight, should they wish to stay around the clock with the patient.

Designed with a home-like atmosphere, the patient rooms are adjacent to a shared family room, kitchen and eating area for family members and friends. Staff who provide hospice care at Northwest include hospice physicians, a social worker, a chaplain, nurses, aides, clerical staff and volunteers who help patients to meet any challenge they may encounter with their particular diagnosis.
