A hospital stay comes with a lot of moving parts. There’s medicine, of course, but there’s also administration. Dr. Scott helps people navigate that part of care.

In her role in utilization review, she guides patients and care teams through insurance coverage and the administrative steps that accompany treatment. It’s the kind of work that could easily keep someone behind a computer. But Dr. Scott chooses to be present on Sinai Hospital’s units, meeting patients who may be juggling financial concerns alongside their medical needs.

One afternoon, she visited a patient preparing for shoulder surgery. The patient was overwhelmed and in tears. Instead of rushing through the moment, Dr. Scott slowed down and asked a simple question:

“What is something you love?”

The answer was Frank Sinatra.

So, Dr. Scott went back to her office, loaded her small boom box with Sinatra classics and brought it back to the patient’s room. Most importantly, she offered familiarity at a time when everything else felt uncertain.

At LifeBridge Health, every patient has a story. The best care begins with listening to it.
