Junior Volunteers

Carroll Hospital offers a great opportunity for students, ages 15 to 18, to volunteer for a community organization, while earning service hours that may be applied to their required 75 hours of community service for the Carroll County school system. All applicants must be 15 years of age AND have completed 9th grade.

The application process is currently closed. If you have applied to the 2022 summer program, we will be contacting you shortly after reviewing your essay.

Once you become a Junior Volunteer, you will have a diverse selection of volunteer opportunities to choose from, including:
  • General clerical and administrative duties
  • Assisting the nursing staff with a variety of duties such as:
      •  discharging patients via wheelchair
      •  assisting with patient transfers
      •  acting as a liaison between nursing stations and the lab
      •  delivering flowers
      •  assisting at nursing station
      •  and so much more!

Things to Consider:
Junior Volunteers generally serve 4 hours per day, once per week. The hours are 8 a.m. to noon and noon to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please make sure you have transportation for these times.

Junior Volunteers must be available to volunteer a minimum of 8 weeks between June and August. If vacations, camp or athletics will keep you away for more than 2 weeks, please consider applying the following year.

The expectation is that all students will make good use of their time during their shift.  However, depending on patient census, downtime may be a possibility.  Please consider visiting with patients or offering help to staff in another area.

For hospital Associates: If you are considering having your child or a relative volunteer with us, it will not be possible to place them in the same department to which you are assigned. Please refer to the HR Policy regarding nepotism.
