Inpatient Rehabilitation

Advanced Orthopedic Therapy at Sinai Rehab Center provides a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to inpatient rehabilitation for children and adults. We specialize in providing high-quality, specialized, protocol-driven therapy following orthopedic surgery.

Pediatric Inpatient Physical Therapy

A hospital room with a patient bed inside the Herman & Walter Samuelson Children’s HospitalPediatric inpatient physical therapy is performed in the 22-bed Herman & Walter Samuelson Children’s Hospital pediatric unit. Patients will be seen at bedside or in the therapy gym located on the unit following orthopedic surgery for limb deformities, traumatic injuries, or other orthopedic conditions. Therapists provide treatment with the goal of improving function, range of motion, strength, and activities of daily living (ADL) independence. Physical and occupational therapists provide one-on-one therapy to facilitate out-of-bed activity, exercise, and caregiver education as early as the first day after surgery.

As family-centered care is of the utmost importance in this setting, parents, siblings and other caregivers are also included in the therapeutic process and in training to maximize the child’s functional potential.
