Tyler A. Rickards, Ph.D.

Tyler A. Rickards, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist and neurorehabilitation specialist. He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Pennsylvania State University and master of arts and doctoral degrees in medical clinical psychology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After completing an internship in clinical psychology with the Veterans Administration Palo Alto Health Care System in Palo Alto, California, he completed a postdoctoral residency in rehabilitation neuropsychology and served as chief resident in the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

The recipient of a number of honors from Penn State, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the American Heart Association, and the Civitan International Research Center, Dr. Rickards has also completed specialty training in cognitive behavior therapy for anxiety, depression, and insomnia; cognitive processing therapy; and neuroimaging processing.

Dr. Rickards has conducted original research in the areas of neuropsychological assessment after traumatic brain injury and stroke, brain-injury rehabilitation, constraint-induced movement therapy, neuroplasticity, and neuroimaging. He has co-authored a number of publications that report his research results, and he has presented his findings at numerous national and international conferences. Dr. Rickards’ specific areas of interest include neuropsychological assessment, rehabilitation, cognitive performance validity testing, and persisting symptoms following mild traumatic brain injury.
