The Brain Injury Program at Levindale Specialty Hospital a comprehensive program designed to address the complex needs of patients 18 and over affected by Brain Injury.

Our Brain Injury Specialty Program is accredited by The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and Joint Commission certified.

The Brain Injury specialty program provides services to patients across the spectrum of recovery. We evaluate and treat “low-level” patients requiring medical rehabilitation services as well as “high-level” patients who can tolerate increased levels of therapy with the goal of helping them make a smooth transition from our facility back to their home environment.

Program Structure:

Our comprehensive Brain Injury rehabilitation program helps patients regain function through intensive rehabilitation services addressing such skills as:

  • Balance, strength, coordination and early mobility.
  • Motor control and range of motion.
  • Completion of self-care activities of daily living such as bathing and dressing.
  • Comprehension of language.
  • Verbal and non-verbal communication.
  • Medication and money management.
  • Self-feeding and swallowing.
  • Executive function skills such as memory, problem solving, organization, planning, emotional self-regulation and cognitive flexibility

  • Neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES)
  • Splinting

  • Spasticity Clinic
  • Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS) and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of the Swallow (FEES)
