Summary of Position: The Clinical Nurse Educator requires a good understanding of home health and documentation requirements including OASIS along with a working knowledge of home health state and federal regulations. Collaborates with the management team and proactively identifies and addresses the educational needs of all employees. Clinical education may include field visits with travel to branch office locations and after hour visits with clinicians to ensure that they are provided support and on-site training during and after orientation to ensure competency.

Essential Functions:
  • Develops an up to date comprehensive orientation tailored to meet individual needs and designed to achieve new employee competency. Provides and manages orientation activities, including conducting instructor led training, coordinating field orientation with preceptors and Clinical Managers, and monitoring the completion of the new hire orientation process
  • Identifies additional training or recommends new training material to aide in documentation accuracy and completion
  • Develops appropriate learning programs based on needs analysis, organizational goals, state, federal and Joint Commission regulations
  • Schedules regular in-services for all departments and any applicable associates to educate on new regulations/health initiatives/projects
  • Utilizes the principles of adult education in the planning and conducting of educational programs. Uses a variety of teaching methodologies, including use of audiovisual tools, role playing, group process, and subject matter experts to support and encourage critical thinking and ensure optimal learning
  • Assesses the effectiveness and outcomes of educational programs to improve content and learning based on evaluation results, employee feedback and performance data
Education and Experience:
  • Current Maryland License Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college/university or equivalent experience preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years recent home care experience
  • Excellent knowledge of Joint Commission, State and Federal Home Health regulations
  • Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare provider certification
  • Knowledge of electronic health records and systems, experience with Wellsky software preferred
  • Good working knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-10
  • OASIS proficiency required
  • Knowledge of educational theories and applications to assess, plan, implement and evaluate educational programs
