Cardiac Diagnosis

Our skilled team of physicians and technologists can perform a number of tests to assess your heart and determine if you have heart disease or if you are at risk. All tests require a physician’s order. Some of the many diagnostic cardiac tests we offer include:
  • ECG (electrocardiogram, also called EKG), inpatient stress test, holter monitor: non-invasive tests that measure the electrical activity of your heart
  • Cardiac ultrasound (echocardiogram): a non-invasive test that uses sound waves (ultrasound) to provide images of your heart
  • Coronary CT Angiography (CCTA): a non-invasive way to view the heart vessels that uses advanced CT equipment
  • Cardiac Catheterization: the “gold standard” for determining where and to what extent you may have blockages in the arteries serving your heart is performed in our advanced cardiac cath labs

One heartbeat at a time, Carroll Hospital’s cardiovascular lab offers patients advanced cardiac assessments and comprehensive treatment for a range of conditions. Equipped with the latest digital imaging systems, the technology in the lab allows our dedicated staff to: 
  • perform sophisticated diagnostic procedures to detect blockages in the arteries
  • conduct vascular studies to detect abnormalities in vessels throughout the body
  • use minimally invasive techniques to formulate a plan of treatment

Once a diagnosis is made, our team of specially trained cardiologists, interventional radiologists, surgeons, nurses and technologists work together to bring the best solution to you — using proven techniques, such as:

  • pacemaker and internal cardiac defibrillator implantation
  • peripheral angioplasty and stenting to repair blockages in the renal, arm and leg vessels
  • abdominal aortic stent grafting to repair aneurysms
