Get Back in the Game… Exercise Safely

Basketball GameTemperatures are on the rise and we’re all heading outdoors for fun and exercise. After a long winter of inactivity, starting slowly and gradually adding to your exercise routine is the best way to prevent injury.

Public health recommendations suggest 30 minutes or more of moderate physical activity most days of the week to promote health. Everyone can exercise in some way!
  • Prior to exercise, prepare your muscles for activity with simple stretching.
  • Incorporate light aerobic activity and build from there.
  • Hydrate well and maintain a well-balanced diet.
  • Listen to your body. Expect post-workout soreness initially. Continued soreness, pain and swelling may indicate the need to see a sports medicine specialist.
The LifeBridge Health Sports Medicine Institute helps you get back in the game following a layoff or injury. Led by Craig Bennett, M.D., a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in sports medicine, and Andrew Guidry, M.D., an expert on concussions and traumatic brain injury, the program takes a team approach, working with specialists across the continuum of care. Our unique program combines the best orthopedic and neurologic care for all level of athlete.

Caring for athletes starts before their injury, and continues on well after. Our multidisciplinary team of providers help athletes avoid injuries, such as ACL tears and concussions, with proper technique, sport-specific strength analyses, and speed and strength training assistance as needed. If injuries occur, we work with you to develop a personalized plan of care from diagnosis to return to exercise and beyond.

We offer an advanced advanced neurologist-led concussion program, expert orthopedics, physical therapy, sport-specific athletic training, sports medicine primary care and more.
