Behavioral Health Services

Rehabilitation services are available to patients in the behavioral health units at the Specialty Hospital at Levindale. Physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech and language therapy services are available to help patients maintain and/or achieve the best physical, mental and psychosocial skills possible. Treatments are provided individually and in group settings. In accordance with Levindale’s interdisciplinary approach to care, therapists work closely with both the medical doctor and the psychiatry team to develop a comprehensive plan of care for each patient.

 

We help patients dealing with:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Schizophrenia
  • Schizoaffective disorder
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Dementia (Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, vascular, etc.)
  • Cognitive disorders

In conjunction with the Alzheimer’s Association, Levindale will offers a dementia support group. This group provides a safe and confidential environment for conversation, support, resources and education. Caregivers of those with Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related disorders also will be invited to attend. The support group is FREE and will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month at Levindale in the multi-purpose room on the ground floor. Outpatient Mental Health Clinic

The mission of the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic at Levindale is to provide compassionate treatment for the emotional and psychological needs of older adults.

 

Outpatient Psychiatric Services

Levindale's Outpatient Psychiatric Services provides treatment for older adults, who are experiencing behavioral and emotional difficulties and are in need of stabilization. Treatment focuses on the stabilization of acute symptoms, the development of skills for managing mental health, identifying community resources and discharge planning. Patients receive services via telehealth in the comfort of their own homes, provided by a skilled team of psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, registered nurses and social workers specializing in the older adult population.
