If you are considering weight loss surgery and want to learn more about it, please attend the monthly Bariatric seminar information sessions. In a typical session, Dr. Alex Gandsas and the bariatric surgical team from the Division of Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery will be available to discuss the different aspects of weight loss surgery, including nutrition, health and fitness, lifestyle modification and other health related topics.
The format varies from month to month and each session features a different expert physician that will be available to answer any questions related to weight loss surgery.
You will also have the opportunity to hear firsthand from patients about their personal surgical and post-operative experiences with the Roux-en-Y procedure. These are informal meetings and are designed to allow you to learn more about weight loss surgery in a comfortable, low-pressure setting.
Please Note: Attendance at three seminars is recommended before surgery

The post-op support groups will continue to meet in the Zamoiski Auditorium at Sinai Hospital see Bariatric support group icon for more information.
