Mission of Pharmacy Practice Residency
Practitioners completing this residency will gain the necessary experience and critical thinking skills applicable to numerous care venues. Their professional development will be facilitated through a process of self-monitoring, knowledge acquisition, and application of technical and analytical skills. This, in combination with the development of interpersonal skills, will result in a unique leadership style applicable toward improving the safety of the medication use process.
Residency Goals
The goal of the residency program at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore is to create independent pharmacy practitioners who have the skills necessary to practice pharmacy in any type of practice setting. Residents work toward this goal through the following set of skill developments:
- Gain experience and critical thinking skills in providing direct patient care across a broad range of care settings.
- Develop skills in self-evaluation including establishing personal goals and assessment.
- Develop skills in teamwork as a leader and follower.
- Develop technical and analytical skills in managing patient safety.
- Develop skills in education of others and effecting knowledge transfer.
- Develop essential interpersonal skills to facilitate the development of human relationships.
- Develop marketable job skills.

Sinai provides a supportive environment of a community hospital with the academic research capabilities of a university hospital. Residents treat patients from a variety of socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds in all clinical settings.
