Sinai Department of Emergency Medicine (ER-7)

ER-7 is unlike any other emergency facility you have ever experienced. It was built from the ground up to set new standards of emergency care and customer service, and houses seven specialized emergency centers under one roof.

ER-7 Care Centers:

The Urgent Care Center features a unit equipped for ear, eye, nose, and throat emergencies; specially designed gynecological/obstetric examination rooms, complete with a private adjoining restroom; and an orthopedics room offering today's advanced pain management techniques for patients with broken bones or fractures.

The Chest Pain Evaluation Center is a cornerstone of one of the most advanced cardiac care facilities in the region. It features an extensive monitoring system that includes an ambulance-to-hospital EKG transfer system; advanced cardiac stress tests; and an evaluation unit for individuals suffering chest pain without evidence of a heart attack. The Chest Pain Evaluation Center is part of  The Heart Center at Sinai one of the region’s most advanced and comprehensive cardiac care centers. For the past three years, The Heart Center at Sinai has been ranked as one of the country’s top 50 Heart Hospitals by U.S News & World Report. Sinai is the only community hospital in Maryland to receive this important distinction.

The Emergent Care Center
provides intensive care and individual monitoring for patients who are critically ill. Treatment rooms feature glass walls that face only the nurses' area, thereby providing maximum observation while assuring patient privacy.

The Trauma Center is staffed by a specially trained trauma team that provides life-saving care. This designated Level II Trauma Center is fully equipped for rapid resuscitation, including on-site CT scanning. It is also designed with separate entrances to receive patients from ground transportation or helicopters landing on the rooftop helipad.

The Pediatric Center offers a cheerful, child-friendly environment created to make a child's emergency room
experience as positive as possible. Features include separate pediatric treatment area, full-time pediatric emergency physicians, pediatric-trained nurses, and play areas specifically designed for children. It is the only dedicated pediatric emergency care center in Northwest Baltimore.

The Fast Track Center provides timely care to patients suffering from minor ailments such as sprains, sore throats, small cuts, and similar conditions. The advantage of Fast Track is that it allows patients with minor illnesses and injuries to receive the same immediacy of attention and care as patients with more critical conditions.

The Observation Center serves individuals whose medical conditions require extended evaluation and/or treatment. This unit allows patients to be monitored on an outpatient basis instead of being admitted to the hospital. Each glass-enclosed room features a television and a special, comfort-designed bed. Large windows provide observation visibility while maintaining patient privacy.

Superior Medical Features:
