LifeBridge Health > Anesthesia

The Department of Anesthesia at LifeBridge Health offers a full range of specialized pain management services both inside and outside the operating room setting, including expert anesthetic care during inpatient and ambulatory surgical procedures. It also provides anesthesia for:

  • Pediatric
  • Cardiac
  • Intensive care
  • Obstetrical
  • Acute and postoperative pain management
  • Endoscopic services

At the Department of Anesthesia at LifeBridge Health, our patients' well-being and comfort are our highest priorities. Prior to a procedure, we consult with the patient and review pertinent medical history, laboratory data, and X-ray and EKG results provided by the primary care physician or surgeon. We then create a personalized anesthetic management plan, taking into consideration the type of surgery being performed and the patient's medical conditions and comfort level.

While most surgeries are conducted under either general anesthesia or major regional anesthesia (spinal or epidural), we can also provide patients with nerve blocks to help manage postoperative pain when necessary. Nerve blocks can reduce the need for postoperative narcotics. The appropriateness of this option is weighed carefully before being included with the patient's care plan. Sedation anesthesia, or "twilight anesthesia," may also be an option for some procedures.
