How Do I Get Ready For a Hospital Stay? - Information for Teens

After a recent visit to the hospital a doctor may need you to stay overnight. The doctor may need to find out more about your health condition, and see if you will need special treatment.

Mother And Daughter Together At HomeTo get ready for your overnight stay your parents will talk to you about what is going to happen, so don’t be afraid to ask them any questions. They may ask you a few questions about how you are feeling, so tell them exactly how you feel.

Your parent may contact the hospital for a tour so that you will know what to see during your visit. You may also meet the doctors, nurses and child life specialists assigned to your unit.

Shower headThe day before your stay you should take a shower so that you are nice and clean for the hospital staff. Then pack some of your favorite items to bring with you to the hospital.
