Epilepsy and seizures affect nearly three million people in the United States and more than 40 million people worldwide. By some estimates, nearly one in 10 people will experience at least one seizure by the age of 70.
The onset of seizures, at any age, can be a frightening and life-altering event. However, with appropriate diagnosis and treatment, the impact of seizures on a person's life can be minimized. And in many cases, the seizures can be fully controlled with medicine and/or medical treatment.
