Surgery Performed by Dr. Singh
I started this journey barely able to walk on my right foot. For six months, I endured inflamed tendons caused mainly from weight shift. It was accompanied by cellulitis in both legs. In December 2010, my family doctor recommended bariatric surgery and Dr. Singh. He said it would resolve my high blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol problems and physical maladies.
In January 2011, I decided to talk to Dr Singh's nutritionist staff to see how to change my eating habits and eat better. After all the required tests and my supervised nutrition program, my surgery was scheduled for May 13, 2011, at Northwest Hospital.
Dr. Singh is a friendly and informative bariatric surgeon. He visited me in pre-op and made me feel at ease. The next day, I put my new stomach "pouch" to the test. I was able to slowly partake of small quantities of liquids. I "filled up" quickly, as I never had before.
I started the process in January 2011 weighing 468 pounds. On Father's Day (June 19, 2011), I weighed 364 pounds and am losing about a pound a day. My goal is to lose another 120 pounds. While I have emptied my closet of my "big" clothes, I happily am wearing sizes I haven't worn in 20 years.
I wouldn't have been able to get this far and this quickly without the gastric bypass. My feet feel good, and the cellulitis is gone. I am already off my high blood pressure and diabetes medicines. I have more energy than I have had for 15 years!
