Metatarsal Fracture Correction

This female patient was in a car accident and the second, third, and fourth metatarsals (toe bones) were fractured. The second metatarsal was fractured severely into several pieces. The patient underwent minimal open reduction of the second metatarsal fracture and application of external fixation to the second, third, and fourth metatarsal fractures for reduction of the bone fractures and healing. After complete healing of the fractures, the external fixation devices were removed. At the time of removal, the bunion was also corrected. After the correction, the patient was extremely satisfied because she had good function of her foot and toes. Her foot was able to fit into stylish shoes.
