Charcot Midfoot Reconstruction

Because of diabetes, a woman developed a collapsed arch (Charcot deformity) of the left foot, which caused a foot ulcer. Internal and external fixation were used to successfully correct the deformity and to recreate the arch of the foot. Excellent foot position was accomplished by a minimally invasive procedure. The patient’s foot ulcer healed, and she was able to return to walking and to wearing comfortable shoes.
