Brachymetatarsia (Short Toe/Metatarsal) Correction

This female patient had congenital brachymetatarsia (short fourth toe), which was painful and malpositioned on the top of the foot. She had difficulty wearing shoes and experienced painful calluses. An external fixator was applied for metatarsal (toe bone) lengthening and repositioning of the fourth toe. Lengthening was successfully achieved, the external fixation was removed, and excellent foot position was noted. The percutaneous, minimally invasive, metatarsal lengthening procedure was used to achieve an excellent cosmetic and functional result.
