Comprehensive Running Gait Analysis
Our one-hour running evaluation includes a video gait and motion sensor analysis. We utilize both visual technology along with DorsaVi sensor systems to evaluate running mechanics and metrics. This in-depth evaluation, in combination with a thorough muscoluskeletal exam can help identify biomechanical deviations contributing to increased risk of injury. It can also help direct physical therapy treatment of existing injuries and allow for improved outcomes and enhanced running performance.

Individualized Treatment and Retraining Programs
No two running injuries are the same, nor should they be treated that way. At the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics, our time and effort is geared toward creating individualized training programs. We target not only the primary problem but also underlying causes. We have the tools and skill to strengthen what is weak, stretch what is tight, and stabilize what is unstable to give you an optimal running foundation. A runner can progress from fundamental exercises to functional running movement, retraining with the mutual goal of achieving pain-free, efficient running.

Dry Needling
Dry needling is used to treat trigger points causing pain and soreness in muscles. Runners can be predisposed to developing trigger points due to overuse with training. Dry needling is often used in conjunction with other therapies to decrease pain, improve muscle firing patterns and aid in recovery

ASTYM
ASTYM is an instrument-assisted technique used to treat soft tissue restriction and promote tissue regeneration. This procedure is commonly used to treat chronic tendinopathies such as patellar and Achilles tendinosis and plantar fasciitis, as well as several other connective tissue pathologies and movement restrictions caused by scar tissue development. The effectiveness of ASTYM therapy has been clinically proven by medical professionals here at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics. Our running specialists are trained, certified providers of ASTYM therapy, utilizing it in conjunction with other therapies to best address chronic and subacute running-related injuries.

Alter G Injury Return Program
Trying to return from an injury? Whether it is a stress fracture, an ACL reconstruction or painful knee arthritis, our Alter G treadmill allows you to return to your training faster and with less risk for injury. Alter G technology allows for partial body weight support while running so you can maintain your cardiovascular fitness while decreasing impact on your lower extremities. Specific protocols are used to optimize training capacity while you focus on bouncing back from injury.

3D Custom Orthotics
The Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics offers a unique custom orthotic program for runners. Utilizing 3D printing technology, we can design and fit an orthotic to your specific needs. Our specialists perform a thorough musculoskeletal exam in conjunction with an analysis of foot pressure to design orthotics according to foot type, strike pattern and running mechanics. Your evaluation fee will cover the cost of making the orthotic.

Blood Flow Restriction Therapy
We utilize Blood flow restriction (BFR) therapy for patients returning to running or sport after a surgical procedure or prolonged immobilization. This therapy is used to promote more efficient muscle growth to support the higher demand activities such as running, sprinting, and jumping, and strength training.
