Aquatic Physical Therapy

The benefits of water are numerous for people of all ages. Aquatic therapy offers an environment with several advantages as compared to land-based therapy.

Some of these benefits include:
  • Increased comfort and confidence
  • Relaxation
  • Increased circulation
  • Increased flexibility
  • Reduction of weight bearing stress on joints
  • Decreased pain
We often combined aquatics with dry land-based therapeutic exercises/techniques to best meet your needs. If you experience difficulty tolerating exercise on land, balance problems, difficulty performing certain movements, severe weakness, or increased pain, aquatic therapy may be beneficial.

Our pool temperature ranges from 92 to 95 degrees and the pool is 3 to 4 feet deep. We have a stairway with a handrail as well as a mechanical lift for easy access into the pool. We also have a railing along the inside of the pool to provide stability while walking and exercising.

Although aquatic therapy has many benefits, certain medical conditions may prevent you from taking advantage of pool therapy. You must first consult with your doctor, and then participate in an evaluation performed by your physical therapist to see if aquatic therapy will be of benefit to you.
