Welcome to the Sinai Center for Geriatric Surgery!

The aging of the population will be the greatest force affecting health care, affecting society as a whole, in our lifetime. Already the over-65 age group is experiencing explosive growth, with the most rapid rise in the over-85 year group.
In addition, the conditions that lead to surgery---cancer, atherosclerosis, degenerative joint disease, prostate disease, cataracts, biliary disease, and others---all increase in incidence with increasing age.
So, surgeons and those who care for these elderly surgical patients must become better at doing so.
The mission of the Sinai Center for Geriatric Surgery is to provide unequalled care for our elderly surgical patients---care appropriate to their needs and desires---and to improve worldwide care of such patients through education and research.
Our Center embodies both a
Clinical Program and an
Academic Program. Please explore this site and contact any of us for any question whatsoever. We appreciate your interest.
In this WBAL-AM "Know Your Health" radio clip, Dr. Katlic discusses geriatric surgery and the medical needs for older patients.
