Ambulatory Medicine Elective |

Dr. Charles Albrecht, III |
| Description and Goals of Course: |
Students are given opportunities to evaluate and treat patients in an office setting designed as a model HMO practice. Students are supervised by full-time faculty clinicians, and treat common ambulatory adult diseases while gaining an appreciation for the process and nuances of the office visit. The educational approach is patient-centered, with students discussing each patient with faculty preceptors after the initial student evaluation. Students are encouraged to follow a patient longitudinally over the course of the month.
Students should attend all Department of Medicine conferences, and have the option of preparing a lecture on a topic of interest in ambulatory medicine for presentation to the faculty at the end of the rotation. |
