Electrophysiology Labs

The electrophysiology laboratory conducts constant on-going research to investigate improvements in the efficiency of the Automatic Implantable Cardiovertor Defibrillator (AICD). The laboratory evaluates the effect of electrostimulation on cardiac tissue and cells; we try to understand these elicited effects through the molecular and biochemical responses. Researchers work closely with the cardiac electrophysiologists at Sinai Hospital conducting clinical trials in the area of AICD eligibility qualifications.

Electrophysiology is the study of the electrical properties of cells and tissue. Cardiac electrophysiology works to understand and treat the electrical system of the heart. Electrophysiology Labs The laboratory gratefully acknowledges the generous support of Morton Mower who, along with Michel Mirowski, is credited with developing the AICD at Sinai Hospital.
