Biochemistry Support

Biological chemistry is the study of the chemical reactions both inside and around cells and looks to understand the chemical basis of life. In medical biochemistry, this often includes studying the interactions of pharmaceuticals or environmental insults on the body. For our research hospitalist colleagues, the CRL employs an extensive catalogue of qualitative and quantitative biological assays in the area of signaling pathways, hormones, metabolism, respiration, apoptosis, and xenograph analysis. To facilitate some of these assays, the labs are equipped with a variety of spectrophotometers.
