Ultrasound uses ultra high frequency sound waves to produce images for diagnostic reporting. Ultrasound procedures are often used to examine parts of the body such as the abdomen, pelvis, prostate, scrotum, thyroid, parathyroid, and the vascular system.
Ultrasound guided biopsies are performed with an ultrasound system that seamlessly integrates superb 2D, 3D and Doppler imaging with dynamic four Sight 4D ultrasound imaging technology.
Ultrasound technology is also used in support of the Non-Invasive Vascular Lab at Northwest Hospital. Studies performed in the Lab include carotid artery ultrasound, color doppler, pulse volume recording (PVR) of lower extremities and venous ultrasound of both upper and lower extremities. We also perform the VNUS Closure® procedure. This minimally invasive treatment seals targeted veins through the application of radiofrequency energy to treat a condition known as superficial venous reflux.
