In the summer of 2005 when the capital campaign to help fund the most extensive expansion and renovation project in the history of Northwest hospital was seeking leadership gifts, the Herman and Walter Samuelson Foundation stepped forward to name the Breast Care Center. The Samuelson Foundation was formed through the estates of brothers Herman and Walter Samuelson. Both were Baltimore natives and real estate investors. The Foundation devotes its funds solely to religious, charitable and educational purposes.
At the recent opening celebration for the Breast Care Center, Northwest Hospital President, Erik Wexler, recognized the Samuelson Foundation's partnership in moving this flagship service from the oldest building in the back of the campus to the new premier location just off the main entrance.
The Samuelson Foundation gift continues a tradition of philanthropic support for our LifeBridge Health affiliate hospitals. Many patients ask how they can be a part of this tradition of giving back. There are many ways to participate, such as:
