Behavioral Health

[+/-]

The Specialty Hospital at Levindale is one of the few facilities with an inpatient behavioral health unit specifically designed for senior citizens. There are many factors, such as long-term illnesses, the loss of a spouse or partner, or a decline in income, that can rob seniors of their emotional health and vitality. The treatment teams helping these seniors are experts in the issues that are particular to older patients, including chronic depression, dementia and agitation. These teams include board-certified geriatric psychiatrists, certified clinical nurse specialists, certified licensed social workers, registered and licensed practical nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists.

These providers work in tandem to help patients who are dealing with behavioral health issues and other medical conditions to navigate their emotional challenges and live as independently as possible after being discharged.
