LifeBridge Health’s Third Annual Mammothon Screens a Record Number of Women

November 2, 2018

Baltimore, MD – More than 150 women took part in the 2018 LifeBridge Health Mammothon, 50% increase who participated last year. The LifeBridge Health Mammothon is an all-day breast cancer screening event which provides extended morning and evening hours at multiple locations in Northern Baltimore City, and Carroll and Baltimore counties.*

The Mammothon was created to encourage women juggling busy lives to have yearly mammograms when it fits more conveniently into their schedules. This year, screenings were held at Northwest Hospital, Carroll Hospital, Advanced Radiology sites in Pomona Square, Owings Mills and Eldersburg, and at Community Radiology Associates in Mount Airy.

Routine mammograms are vitally important because early detection can find breast cancer before there are symptoms. When that is the case, it often means the cancer is still small, has not spread to other parts of the body and can be more effectively treated. The age to begin having yearly mammograms should be discussed with your own doctor.

In addition to screenings mammograms, the Alvin & Lois Lapidus Cancer Institute at LifeBridge Health provides the highest quality of clinical and diagnostic care throughout all phases of treatment. It also offers traditional support services as well as reiki, guided medication and yoga classes. LifeBridge Health is also involved in research to develop more effective cancer treatments.

LifeBridge Health is one of the largest providers of health services in Maryland. It consists of Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Northwest Hospital , Carroll Hospital, Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital, LifeBridge Health & Fitness, hundreds of primary care and specialty physicians throughout Maryland, and many affiliated health-related partners. LifeBridge Health has the technology, skills and proficiency of an academic system with the warmth and personal attention of a community hospital.
