Jewish Convalescent Receives National Health Care Accreditation

Jewish Convalescent & Nursing Home, a LifeBridge Health center, has been awarded a three-year accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). This accreditation demonstrates Jewish Convalescent's compliance with the Joint Commission's nationally recognized standards and Jewish Convalescent's commitment to providing excellent care for its residents. From the best possible score of 100, Jewish Convalescent received a score of 93, obtaining the highest marks in 30 of 33 graded areas.
Founded in 1951, the Joint Commission is dedicated to continuously improving the safety and quality of the nation's health care through voluntary accreditation. "We are very excited and proud of this result," said Richard P. Goldsmith, administrator of Jewish Convalescent, "especially because of the relatively short amount of time staff had to prepare."
"As the newest member of the LifeBridge Health team, we wanted this accreditation to provided the best possible care for our residents. This could not have been accomplished without the hard, dedicated work of our entire staff as well as the support of the LifeBridge Health organization," added Goldsmith.
Jewish Convalescent & Nursing Home was notified of the accreditation by Russell P. Massaro, M.D., executive vice president, Division of Accreditation Operations, JCAHO. In his cover letter Massaro stated, "We congratulate you on your efforts to provide high quality care for those you serve."
Jewish Convalescent & Nursing Home merged with Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center in January 2000. Both facilities are part of LifeBridge Health, a regional health care organization that also includes Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Northwest Hospital and related subsidiaries and affiliates.
