Oscar Taube, M.D., Receives Special Achievement Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics

Oscar Taube, M.D., division director for Adolescent Medicine/Outpatient Services at the Herman & Walter Samuelson Children’s Hospital at Sinai, has been honored with a Special Achievement Award from the Maryland chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). The Special Achievement Award honors a physician, currently a Maryland resident, who over an entire career has made an outstanding contribution to child health through research, service or educational endeavors.

Taube has practiced at Sinai Hospital for over 26 years. “I have been particularly proud of my work in, and leadership of, the Pediatric Outpatient department at Sinai Greenspring Pediatric Associates, which mainly serves a high-risk, inner-city patient population,” he says.

Taube’s other accomplishments at Sinai Hospital include founding and managing the Pediatric Advocacy month rotation for residents at Sinai, one of the few in the country. “Through rotations in places as varied as the Baltimore City and County Health departments, residents have learned how to advocate for kids and families,” Taube says. He also serves as the medical consultant to the Arrow Project, which is a diagnostic and treatment unit for troubled teens, and consultant for the Loyola University of Maryland Student Health Department.

Other Sinai Hospital physicians who were also honored by the AAP are Ken Tellerman, M.D., received a Leadership Award and Dana Silver, M.D., who was nominated for the Pediatrician of the Year award.
