Three Centers Receive National Awards from Practice Greenhealth
LifeBridge Health has
been honored with three prestigious Partner for Change Awards for its
commitment to protecting the environment and human health. Practice
Greenhealth, a national membership organization for health care
facilities committed to environmentally responsible operations,
presented the awards to LifeBridge Health centers Sinai Hospital, Northwest Hospital, and Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital.
LifeBridge Health received this honor in recognition of its
successful sustainability programs in mercury elimination, waste
reduction and recycling. These awards are given each year for
outstanding environmental achievements in the health care sector.
"We are honored to receive these prestigious awards from Practice
Greenhealth," said Peter Arn, vice president of Enterprise Development
and Support Services for LifeBridge Health. "Our green initiatives
demonstrate our strong commitment to protecting and preserving the
environment. I'd like to thank everyone at LifeBridge Health who does
his or her part to make our centers more green and eco-friendly."
LifeBridge Health has committed significant resources to
environmental sustainability initiatives, highlighted by the LED Light
Replacement Project. This program has replaced 9,200 standard light
bulbs, which contain mercury, at LifeBridge Health centers with
longer-lasting, non-toxic LED lights.
Other successful initiatives include a composting program, a medical
waste separation and reduction program, and energy-saving features in
all LifeBridge Health locations.
LifeBridge Health is one of the largest, most comprehensive providers
of health services in northwest Baltimore. LifeBridge Health includes
Sinai Hospital, Northwest Hospital, Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center
and Hospital, Courtland Gardens Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, and related subsidiaries and affiliates. For more information, visit www.lifebridgehealth.org.
