Northwest Hospital Opens New SurgiCenter
|
|
Northwest Hospital has opened its brand-new SurgiCenter, a state-of-the-art, ambulatory surgery center located on the top floor of the new Northwest Professional Center on Carlson Lane in Randallstown. The center has been optimally designed for patient safety and comfort and includes four operating rooms, a dedicated endoscopy suite and a special procedures room. The SurgiCenter also has convenient access to the main hospital; they are connected to one another by an enclosed pedestrian bridge.
“We are pleased to offer to our community the benefits of a dedicated ambulatory surgery center,” says Erik Wexler, Northwest Hospital’s president and COO. “The SurgiCenter’s patients will experience shorter waiting times; enhanced privacy; and a comfortable, calming environment. Because we now have more operating rooms and offer longer hours, surgeons who perform their cases here have better options when it comes to scheduling procedures later in the day.” The SurgiCenter will see patients who need procedures that can be done on an outpatient basis, some of which include general surgery and cosmetic, gastroenterologic, gynecologic, orthopedic and podiatric procedures.
The Northwest Professional Center, home to the SurgiCenter, was built by Blue & Obrecht of Lutherville and provides over 51,000 square feet of space. In addition to the SurgiCenter, the Northwest Professional Center houses physician practices and administrative offices.
Along with developing the SurgiCenter, Northwest Hospital also recently completed a large-scale renovation of the main hospital operating rooms and post-anesthesia care unit. In both surgical facilities, patients and their families have the added convenience of free parking and free Wi-Fi for their laptops and smartphones.
Northwest Hospital is a part of LifeBridge Health, one of Baltimore’s largest health organizations that also includes Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital, and Courtland Gardens Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
