Northwest Hospital Welcomes New Members to its Board of Directors


Northwest Hospital Center is pleased to announce the addition of new board members, Stanford H. Malinow, M.D., Andrew Malis, Deborah Phelps, and Barry Walters, M.D.  Malinow, Malis, Phelps and

Walters will serve a three-year term, from October 2007 to September 2010.
Malinow is a physician in private practice and specializes in general internal medicine, including diagnosis, treatment of illness, the maintenance of wellness, and the prevention of disease states and their complications. The practice treats both outpatients and hospitalized patients.

Malis is co-founder and president of MGH Inc., a full-service marketing communications firm. Based in Owings Mills, MGH has 86 employees with more than $60 million in annual billings. MGH clients include Papa John's Pizza, Pfizer Inc., Merck & Co. Inc., Sallie Mae, Texas Instruments, the Baltimore Sun, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Towson University, Downtown Locker Room, University of Maryland University College, Ocean City Maryland, Smyth Jewelers, and Suburban Hospital.

Phelps is the principal of Windsor Mill Middle School in Baltimore County. She has over three decades of education experience as a teacher and principal in Harford and Baltimore Counties. She has been a Baltimore County Public School Teacher of the Year Finalist and was twice named Maryland Family and Consumer Science Teacher of the Year. In 2006, Northwest Hospital adopted the Windsor Mill Middle School to create opportunities to mentor students and teach them about health care.

Walters is a cardiologist and vice president at Baltimore Heart Associates, P.A., in Randallstown. A graduate of Franklin & Marshall College and the University of Maryland School of Medicine, he completed his internship and residency at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and a fellowship in cardiology at the University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland. Walters has hospital appointments at Northwest Hospital, Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and Carroll Hospital Center.
