Center for Breast Care & Bone Health Celebrates 15th Anniversary
|
|
The Center for Breast Care and Bone Health at Northwest Hospital Center is celebrating its 15th anniversary.
Fifteen years ago, the center opened as a caring place where women could have their mammograms done. Now, it is a full-service breast center offering screening and diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound and breast biopsies, as well as bone densitometry to detect the onset of osteoporosis.
The center has handled more than 71,700 patient visits in its 15 years of operation. Volumes have increased significantly each year. This year, a 23% increase is anticipated.
"Our goal for the center is to provide caring and understanding service for women by women,” says Susan Katz, R.T. (R)(M), the center's supervisor and original employee. "Everyone here has had a mammogram at some point in time. They know what a woman is going through and understand what she is feeling and what her concerns are.”
The Center for Breast Care and Bone Health is accredited by the American College of Radiology and the Food and Drug Administration under the Mammography Quality Standards Act.
Northwest Hospital Center is a member of LifeBridge Health, a regional health organization, which includes Sinai Hospital, Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital, Jewish Convalescent & Nursing Home, and related subsidiaries and affiliates.
