Sinai Hospital of Baltimore has been listed as one of the top heart hospitals in the nation according to U.S. News & World Report's annual hospital ranking. According to the report, Sinai is ranked 41st in the country.
"Once again we are honored to be recognized by U.S. News & World Report for the quality healthcare that we provide here at Sinai," said Neil M. Meltzer, president and COO, Sinai Hospital. "In fact, Sinai is the only community based hospital in Maryland to earn these high marks as a major heart hospital."
U.S. News & World Report started the annual listings as a way to identify facilities with the best level of medical care in the country. In order to be eligible for the ranking, a hospital must first belong to the Council of teaching Hospitals, be affiliated with a medical school or have at least nine technology services out of a prescribed list of 17. Those services include cancer, digestive disorders, ear, nose and throat, geriatrics, gynecology, heart, hormonal, kidney, neurology, orthopedics, rheumatology, respiratory, urology, eyes, pediatrics, psychiatry and rehabilitation.
Hospitals in the listing are ranked based on several factors including reputation among specialists, mortality rates and other medical data, most of which comes from an annual survey by the American Hospital Association.
Sinai Hospital of Baltimore is part of LifeBridge Health, a regional health organization that also includes Northwest Hospital Center, Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital and related subsidiaries and affiliates.
